In last week’s Transfer Talk video we covered reports that representatives of Paris Saint-Germain attacker Ezequiel Lavezzi had been in London to meet Chelsea officials.
And a deal seems to be moving closer, as The Times claim today that the talks were successful, and the Argentinian is keen to seal a free move to the Blues in the summer, when his contract expires in France.
Lavezzi, capped 48 times for the Argentina national team, has had a mixed time in Paris, as Edinson Cavani, Lucas Moura, Javier Pastore, and Angel di Maria have all been used in wide positions, limiting his opportunities.
At thirty years old, he is not a long-term prospect, and would no doubt demand high wages, but Chelsea are well-equipped to handle such a cost, especially if there is no transfer fee to be paid.
However, the former Napoli player is a versatile, quick, and intelligent forward who offers goals and creativity, and could be a good addition to the Chelsea squad, particularly if mooted moves away for Oscar, Pedro, and Eden Hazard come to fruition.
